A Brief History of Fayetteville TN

Fayetteville holds the distinction of being the largest city in Lincoln County. The city was founded in 1809 through an Act of the Tennessee General Assembly. The act came into effect on January 1, 1810.

The territories encompassing Lincoln County and Fayetteville were initially under the ownership of the Cherokee and Chickasaw tribes. They were transferred to the United States in 1806.

The city was named after Fayetteville, North Carolina, where a number of its earliest residents had resided prior to relocating to Tennessee. The previous town was named after Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, a French general who bravely fought for the United States during the American Revolution. Lincoln County was named after Major General Benjamin Lincoln, who played a crucial role in the U.S. Army during the Revolutionary War.

The first white settler in the area was Ezekiel Norris, who generously donated the one hundred acres of land on which the city was established. Alongside Ezekiel Norris, Fayetteville was also founded by Alexander and Andrew Greer, William Edmonson, and Matthew Buchanan.

In 1995, the International Gospel Hour radio broadcast, originally established in Texarkana, Texas, by clergyman V. E. Howard, was relocated to the West Fayetteville Church of Christ in Fayetteville, under the leadership of minister Winford Claiborne.

Repaired my laptop in a timely manner at a good price. Was truthful about the fact the price may change should more work was needed. The part I needed at the time was inexpensive as well. Great place and very helpful.
